Royal Products introduces Parts Accumulator with solid-state PLC control

June 14, 2010 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

Royal Products (www.royalprod.com) is proud to announce the release of its Rota-Rack Parts Accumulator, a cost-effective device that allows any bar-fed CNC lathe to operate unattended for extended periods of time. The new device indexes each time a completed part exits the machine, safely protecting and collecting finished workpieces.

The benefits of using the Rota-Rack include greatly reduced risk of part damage, systematic storage of parts for quality control purposes and the ability to operate a second or third shift with no additional employees and existing equipment. With the device, first-shift employees can be freed up to do more productive tasks.

The new Rota-Rack is comprised of a solid-state programmable logic controller (PLC) control, optional integrated conveyor and a heavy-duty welded steel turntable. All of the contact surfaces have a high-lubricity UHMW plastic covering for workpiece protection. Its one-meter diameter turntable gives over 850 sq in. of usable surface area and has a 700-pound payload capacity.

The Royal Rota-Rack’s universal design enables it to be utilized with any CNC lathe, which is equipped with a parts catcher. The devise is mounted either to the right or left of the machine tool, and its height can be adjusted from 11 to 50 inches. Programming takes about 20 seconds with the intuitive touchscreen PLC control and eliminates the need for machine tool interface. The device works on standard 110 V electrical power.

By providing a means for safely collecting large volumes of completed parts, the Royal Rota-Rack helps machine operators achieve significant improvements in both profitability and part quality.
