RW Series rotary actuator features durable hardcoat anodized aluminum body

September 20, 2012 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

The RW Series Rotary Actuator from Numatics Inc. is built with a unique design suitable for real-world rotary actuator applications. This rotary actuator features two independent piston cylinders which both have a crank arm attached to a crankshaft.

The crankshaft rotates as the piston starts to stroke in its bore and the rotation reverses as the opposite bore undergoes pressurization.

The product’s body is made from hardcoat anodized aluminum with durable, lightweight and high strength to weight ratio, aside from PTFE coating inside and out.

The hardened electroless nickel output shaft of this rotary actuator makes it corrosion- and wear-resistant. The shaft is built in oversized diameter and is supported by both roller and thrust bearings to increase its rigidity and strength. A hollow shaft has been designed for reduction of weight.

Stroke adjustment of RW Series Rotary Actuator is infinite and can be done in both clockwise and counter clockwise directions, ensuring ease of rotation. A jam nut is also in place for a secured lock.

The rotary actuator also has an easily adjusted sensor mounting channel embedded into its body which accepts Numatic dovetail switches. All models of the RW Series use the standard magnetic piston.
