Sendix – The Encoders for Outdoor Use

October 10, 2013 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

Sendix technology ensures high reliability and a long service life. This is underpinned by a robust housing technology, a wide temperature range and the rugged mechanical Safety-LockTM construction.

The robust, thick-walled die-cast housing of the Sendix encoders is press-fit stemmed in several places to the encoder flange. An extremely sturdy socket is located on the die-cast housing, to which the connector is fixed by means of four screws. The high protection level (up to IP69k) as well as the wide temperature range of -40°C up to +90°C allow for problem-free outdoor use.

Sendix---The-Encoders-for-Outdoor-Use

The Sensor-Protect™ Design of the magnetic Sendix encoders affords the highest protection level of IP69k, thanks to the fully-encapsulated electronics. Due to the separate mechanical components with mechanically protected shaft and labyrinth seals, no additional protection is required for steam or high-pressure cleaning.

Although it had already proved itself numerous times in harsh environments, the Sendix encoder family was tested and certified to IEC 68-2-11 for resistance to the effects of a salt-spray over a period of up to 672 hours – the highest test level.

The high certification level for the Sendix encoders attests a particularly high level of corrosion resistance.

Thanks to the Kübler Safety-Lock™ technology, which offers an extremely sturdy and robust bearing construction, the Sendix encoders guarantee the highest levels of reliability and a long service life. Encoders with Safety-Lock™ tolerate installation errors and permit high shaft loads, such as occur with extreme temperature fluctuations or vibration. Interlocked bearings, a wide bearing span and special installation technology form the basis of Kübler’s Safety-Lock™ technology.

The Sendix encoder family encompasses both optical as well as magnetic encoders. The product range includes incremental, absolute singleturn, absolute multiturn and also Fieldbus encoders. Interfaces such as, for example, Profibus, Profinet, CANopen, CANlift, Modbus, EtherCAT, SSI and BiSS are available.

Highlight: the new Sendix F58 multiturn encoder.

With the patented Intelligent-Scan-Technology™, the Sendix F58 is an exceptionally high-resolution multiturn encoder without gears that is 100% insensitive to magnetic fields.

The optical F-technology offers an optical encoder with high accuracy and reliability but with low costs -– comparable with those of a less precise magnetic encoder.
