AUMA (www.auma.com) has proudly announced that its actuators offer robust automation technology that enables them to withstand even the most extreme weather conditions.
This made AUMA’s actuators suitable for a solar tracking installation that sits 1,700 m above sea level in the Swiss mountains. Located in Graubuenden, Switzerland, the photovoltaic installation is commissioned by electricity supplier Repower.
Repower conducted an extensive selection process that lead to TecnoSunSolar AG being given the contract for a solution, which included AUMA supplying the electric actuators.
The products of AUMA, which has more than 45 years of experience in supplying actuators for various challenging valve automation applications, were considered to be ideally suited for the solar application. One of the main strengths of the actuators is its high level of stability to withstand even the harshest climatic conditions of strong snow/wind and low temperatures.
“Outstanding technology, precision of operation and exceptional high levels of co-operation with our R&D department, were decisive factors in choosing AUMA as our actuator partner,” said Thomas Vogel, spokesman for TecnoSunSolar.
“The products’ high enclosure protection, large temperature range and high quality corrosion protection ensure that the actuators will withstand the challenging weather conditions of the mountain location and fulfill the scheme’s requirements.”
The electric actuators from AUMA have been installed into the installation to optimally align its 45 trackers towards the sun, both on the vertical and horizontal level.
