Thomson launches fully watertight and corrosion-resistant planetary gearheads

March 8, 2011 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

Thomson (www.thomsonlinear.com), a leading supplier of innovative guidance systems and linear drives, has announced the release of AquaTRUE planetary gearheads, which feature remarkable corrosion resistance and water tightness attributed to its hermetically sealed design. Designed to meet the most stringent requirements in water tightness, the gearheads are ideal in beverage and food processing industries, where the components are exposed to caustic cleaning chemicals or high-pressure washdown during cleaning operations. The NSF/ANSI 169 certified planetary gearheads are fitted in round, fully stainless steel housing with laser-etched rating plate to guarantee that there are no crevices where bacteria can accumulate.

AquaTrue provides an interesting alternative in the beverage and food processing industry, as well as for other industrial sectors. Manufactured in line with IP69K and IP66/IP67 degrees of protection as standard, AquaTrue can be used in water jet cutting systems, which demand reliable sealing of metal components against chemicals and high water pressure. The gearhead’s design eliminates the concern for any type of corrosion or rust.

AquaTRUE planetary gearheads are ideal in applications including beverage filling machines, food packaging, medical technology equipment, slicing machines in meat processing, pharmaceutical laboratory and production facilities, and in applications with cleaning procedures that use high levels of chemicals or water.

AquaTRUE’s planetary gearheads are offered in sizes of 60 mm, 80 mm, 120 mm and 160 mm. They offer a maximum degree of precision of 13 arc minutes.
