Tuning-free NX Series servo motor operates without vibration

September 28, 2012 By Motion Control Tips Editor Leave a Comment

The NX Series tuning-free servo motor and driver package from Oriental Motor U.S.A. Corp. allows smooth and easy operation in high inertia drive and belt mechanism drive applications without the need to adjust gain. Manual gain adjustment will also enable operation even in more rigid load conditions.

With automatic tuning, NX Series operates up to 50 times the rotor inertia, while 100 times when under manual tuning mode. The belt mechanisms of this servo motors perform similar with a stepping motor without vibration before it stops.

Its front panel has switches and potentiometers to allow easy control without the need for a computer while avoiding complications of up and down key operations.

Changing of parameters, function setting as well as monitoring the operating status waveform requires the use of the data setting software (MEXE02) and control module (OPX-2A).

The NX Series servo motor can operate under four control modes. High, accurate positioning can be achieved as the unit has built-in, high-resolution 20-bit absolute encoder. Using high-resolution encoder and the reduction of motor cogging torque reduce the variation in rotation at low-speed range, thus, a smooth operation.

Adjusting the potentiometer eliminates load resonance without searching for the resonance frequency. Also, no control equipment or tension detector is needed to enable tension control such as winding film.

The NX series servo motor conforms to IP65 as well as to Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International Standards (SEMI F47). Ideal for applications requiring water and dust resistance, the motor comes with 3 m (9.8 ft.) cables, which connect the motor and driver. It uses high accuracy gears with 4-arc minutes (0.067°) angular transmission accuracy and 3 arc minutes (0.05°) backlash.
