Tyco’s Motorman hybrid connector simplifies servo drive Connections

Tyco Electronics (www.tycoelectronics.com) is pleased to announce the release of its Motorman hybrid connector – a new hybrid connector that simplifies the connection of signal and power to locally-controlled motors. The connecter integrates signal, communication and power transmission in a single and compact connector. Thus, it requires only a single cable for connection. The connector features two fast Ethernet interfaces that provide the full benefits of real-time automation control and reduce cabling complexity. The new device accommodates one protection-earth-contact, five power contacts and five signal contacts. The newest, economical and reliable MCON 1.2 mm and 2.8 mm contact system from Tyco Electronics is used.

The Motorman hybrid connector’s key features include several pre-customized devices available for a variety of customer environments; easy-to-open enclosure: safe configuration thanks to the spacious side access to its interior; Cat 5e (ISO/IEC11801) communication in heavy environment; and usage of Tyco’s MCON interconnection system and stamped contacts, as well as compact size of a traditional hybrid construction and rectangular connector (power, communication, signal). All signals are also fitted in one interface, thus only one cable is needed. The device also offers space for, one protection earth contact, two 4-pin Ethernet sockets, five power sockets and five signal sockets.

Additional applications for the new Motorman hybrid connector include Drives (amplifiers), I/O connector on AC servo motors with PCB, I/O connector on decentral servo motors, and packaging, assembly, food producing or woodworking machine.
