Yaskawa adds embedded Ethernet to GA501 AC microdrive

★ By Puja Mitra Leave a Comment

The Drives & Motion Division of Yaskawa America, Inc. has introduced the GA501 industrial AC microdrive with embedded Ethernet as a new addition to its industrial AC drive lineup.

Available now, the GA501 is designed for industrial automation applications and includes embedded dual-port Ethernet. With support for major industrial Ethernet protocols, it can reduce the need for additional hardware, shorten installation time and simplify system design.

Connectivity

The GA501 supports network integration through EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP/IP, EtherCAT, BACnet/IP and MECHATROLINK-4 in a single AC drive. It includes dual-port Ethernet connections, standard DIN rail mounting for models up to 7.5 HP and spring-tension I/O terminals to help reduce installation time and simplify system design without requiring additional hardware.

Flexibility

The GA501 can be integrated into Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) systems using a range of industrial protocols. Users can select from six on-board network protocols via a DIP switch.

Available ratings: IP20/ Open Type enclosure

  • 240 VAC single-phase: 1/6 to 5 HP
  • 240 VAC three-phase: 1/6 to 30 HP
  • 480 VAC three-phase: 1/2 to 40 HP

Motor operation up to 40 HP includes:

  • Induction (IM)
  • Permanent Magnet (PM)
  • Synchronous Reluctance (SynRM)

Ease of use

The GA501 is designed to simplify setup by allowing programming without power applied through the DriveWizard Mobile application. When powered, the LED status ring and network status LEDs provide a clear visual indication of drive status. The drive is built for reliable long-term operation.
