Zero-Max adds ISO flange adaptor to CD Power-Series couplings

★ By Puja Mitra Leave a Comment

Zero-Max has added an ISO flange adaptor to its CD Power-Series flexible shaft couplings. The couplings are also available with several opposing hub configurations for use with precision gear reducers, motors, actuators and robotic equipment.

Direct connection to precision gear reducers

The ISO adaptor mount flange is compatible with ISO 9409-1 bolt patterns used on precision gear reducers and other equipment. Directly connecting the coupling to the reducer helps maintain torsional stiffness and positioning accuracy while reducing the overall size, weight and inertia of the assembly.

Some systems use a separate shaft adaptor to connect an ISO flange to a conventional coupling hub. The additional component can increase the package size and reduce torsional stiffness. The ISO adaptor mount provides a direct connection without requiring this transition component.

Some precision gear reducers include a locating pin in the ISO mounting flange to maintain component orientation after service. Zero-Max can add a corresponding locating-pin feature to the CD Power-Series adaptor mount for applications that require it.

The CD Power-Series is also available with the following hub options:

  • Two-piece split-clamp hub
  • One-piece integral-clamp hub
  • Non-ISO flange mount
  • Integrated shrink-disc hub

CD Power-Series specifications and options

  • ISO adaptor mounts fit ISO 9409-1 bolt patterns with bolt-circle diameters from 31.5 to 160 mm
  • Larger adaptor mounts are available as customized solutions
  • Coupling outside diameters range from 55 to 215 mm
  • Continuous torque ratings range from 42 to 7,345 Nm
  • Peak torque ratings are up to twice the continuous torque rating
  • Hub bores accommodate shaft diameters from 12 to 130 mm
  • Larger bores are available upon request
  • Keyed and keyless hub configurations are available
  • Customization options include dimensional changes, disc packs for increased torque capacity or torsional stiffness, alternative platings and coatings, and larger sizes

Application considerations

The CD Power-Series couplings are designed for servo-rated shaft coupling applications that require torsional stiffness and compact installation. The coupling design supports positioning accuracy and can reduce settling time in indexing and other start-stop applications.

Keyed and keyless shaft configurations, multiple hub options and the ISO adaptor mount support different shaft and mounting requirements. Zero-Max provides application support for coupling sizing and selection by phone, email or online meeting.
