New Illuminated Rotary Encoders from Cliff

Rotary encoders are widely replacing conventional analogue potentiometers for audio, instrumentation and industrial control functions as they offer more accurate, repeatable setting. Cliff’s rotary encoder range features LED illuminated spindles to provide visible indication of panel position or function. Standard LED colors available are blue, green and red. The company is now manufacturing a wide range of customizable translucent control knobs in its UK factory in eight solid colors. The control knob are available to fit standard pot and encoder shafts. Custom designed translucent knobs are also available on request.

The rotary encoder range provides an output of 24 pulse / 24 clicks and features a 24mm shaft with ‘flats’ of 15/17.5/20/25/30mm available. Switch contacts are rated at 5VDC/0.5mA and the operating temperature range is -40° to +85° making them ideal for audio, broadcast, industrial control, medical and telecoms equipment and many types of portable devices.

Low Profile Encoders from HEIDENHAIN

HEIDENHAIN Corporation now introduces new low profile incremental rotary encoders with block commutation tracks, especially suitable for use in small-dimensioned servo motors. These new rotary encoders of the HEIDENHAIN 1000 and 1100 series come equipped with an industry-standard 35 mm housing diameter.
These new encoders distinguish themselves not only by their short overall length but also by their modern opto-ASIC based photoelectric scanning with integrated interpolation. Thanks to the electrical output at TTL levels with differential signals, these encoders can be connected to almost all standard subsequent electronics for control of digitally controlled servo motors (up to edge lengths of 40 mm and 55 mm), and are useful in various applications in the Automation industry.
Currently available, the HEIDENHAIN 1023 encoder has an overall length of 35.2 mm max and an IP 64 rating, making it especially useful in hazardous environments; the HEIDENHAIN 1123 encoder has an overall length of 30.3 mm max and an IP 0 for general use.
Both encoders have mounted stator couplings and blind hollow shafts. Choice of appropriate commutation signals is available to the buyer as the amount depends upon the number of poles of the motor to be controlled.

DC Tachometer Generators Feature Low Ripple

Greenville, Del. – Servo2Go has just added a new high performance DC Tachometer Generator to its broad range of analog feedback devices and sensors. Manufactured by Servo-Tek Products Company Inc., the CS-7514F-51C tachometer features a low ripple of 1.5% peak-to-peak with a 72kHz filter, linearity of 0.1% and a standard 3V/1,000 RPM with other voltages available.
The shaft is made of a ¼-inch diameter stainless steel shaft with two shaft extensions of 0.65 and 0.875-in. available. The tachometer also comes with a standard servo and face mount with a ½-inch pilot, special one-piece anodized housing, with lead wires and rear cover included.
