AMK Automation Corp. will exhibit some of the most flexible drive and control technology for material handling at MODEX Atlanta, April 9-12, 2018. The AMK Automation display will be at booth B1163 in Building B of the Georgia World Congress Center.
Ideal for material handling applications such as palletizing, conveying and AGVs, the AMK Automation portfolio features both centralized and decentralized control solutions designed with the machine in mind. The booth will showcase demonstrations of a centralized single-cabinet design as well as a working decentralized machine, where a self-contained controller from the company’s AMKASMART series is supporting multiple axes of movement. The AMKASMART line includes servo controllers, servo drives and integrated motors and drives.
“We can help customers reduce costs and save valuable floorspace in conveyance or production facilities,” said Tom Jensen, Executive Vice President and General Manager. “We take what is typically a complex and costly product design and simplify it with the AMKASMART solutions by combining the power supply and motor function into one powerful decentralized machine controller that can support the most demanding machines.”
Jensen will be presenting “The standardized control of non-standard conveyor components” on Tuesday, April 10 at 2:15 p.m. in Theater B. He’ll discuss how simple-to-connect smart drives enable cell controllers to focus on parameterization rather than creating programs from scratch. He’ll explain how creating machinery modules with these smart drives that are based on a standard command concept lets a cell controller, which manages those drives, do this. And, if done right, this standardized control of non-standard conveyor components redirects the goal from “how do we integrate this?” to “what changes can we make to improve our throughput?”
The AMK Automation booth at MODEX will feature a working demo showcasing the AMKASMART portfolio, a hybrid system available to customers as well as a variety of drives, controls, and motor solutions to help provide material handling equipment design firms and end users with better technology options. The solutions on display include:
Hybrid Automation Solutions: AMK’s hybrid machine automation solution provides flexibility, with centralized solutions for when power is needed, and the ability to quickly add remote modules. AMK’s hybrid automation utilizes the compatibility of various system structures, including a concept of combinable drive and control technologies with central or decentralized drives, or any variation of these.
Decentralized Solutions: The AMKASMART decentralized drive technology from AMK provides true modularity for machine construction with limitless machine power and the ability to eliminate costly control cabinets. The AMKASMART product family includes a variety of servo controllers, such as the compact iX servo controller; the iC servo converter, consisting of a servo controller with integrated power supply module; and the iDT “all-inclusive model,” in which the servo controller is installed directly on the motor.
Linear Drive Motors: The recently released SPINDASYN SEZ electronic cylinder from AMK is a linear drive motor system in which the rotor is pressed directly onto the screw. Featuring high and constant force, high precision and high energy efficiency, the closed-loop positioning and force control of the SEZ make it an ideal alternative to other linear technologies such as pneumatic or hydraulic cylinders, rack and belt drives and linear motors. With several options available for screw and strength length, motor type and acceleration, the SEZ is installation-ready and provides high rigidity without additional wearing parts.
