Customized Klüber lubrication offerings eliminate noise

January 28, 2016 By Lisa Eitel Leave a Comment

Noises in cars are a nuisance to customers and a major challenge for manufacturers and suppliers. On one hand, there is the time and resources it takes to locate and eliminate sources of noise early in the design stage. On the other, there is a serious threat to a brand’s image when disgruntled customers air their grievances on the internet. Since noise, especially inside the car, is often generated by micro stick-slip movement between adjacent components, lubricants can bring immediate and efficient relief by reducing friction. Klϋber Lubrication, a worldwide manufacturer of specialty lubricants, offers a handy kit of 14 damping lubricants matching the individual requirements of its customers.

“Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) has become such a major focus of automotive OEMs that they have devoted entire teams of engineers to the elimination of these unwanted conditions,” says Mike Norton, group manager, automotive and bearing industries at Klüber Lubrication NA LP. “It is imperative that we partner with automotive OEMs and their tier suppliers early in the design process, but even more critical, is to be available at the manufacturing plant to support the new vehicle launch with immediate and permanent solutions where NVH concerns are first discovered.”

Each kit is handed over personally to customers by the respective contact person from Klüber Lubrication NA LP. The kit also allows lubricants to be taken on outdoor test routes. Delivery abroad is also available, as the kit does not contain any dangerous substances such as propellants. All sprays are filled in pump dispensers.

Specialty lubricants from Klüber Lubrication NA LP reduce noises generated by vibration and friction as well as the creaking and squeaking of seating, instrument panels, center consoles, door panels and other components. These greases and oils also meet additional requirements of the automotive industry. For example, they have versatile uses, are neutral in odor and are characterized by excellent compatibility with plastics. The Klüberalfa MR 3 series offer outstanding properties for applications in car interiors. As transparent fluids, they do not leave any visible residues.

“We have been successful in helping a number automotive OEMs in North America instantly solve difficult NVH issues with permanent solutions, that were not only effective, but were able to provide cost savings over traditional technologies,” adds Norton.
