Integrated: Seven-inch touch HMI with Ethernet + PLC to boot

November 5, 2015 By Lisa Eitel Leave a Comment

Now, Unitronics sells a Vision700 PLC+ touch HMI consisting of a seven-inch touchscreen, built-in Ethernet port, and rich I/O configuration options.

The V700 has an integrated touchscreen — 800 x 480 — to satisfy demand for wide screens. It’s the popular size for the future to let OEMs give their machines a modern look at a fair price … with strong PLC performance. The built in Ethernet port of the V700 suits the global trend of machine connectivity.

The Vision700 model offers myriad I/O configurations that can include digital, high-speed, and analog I/Os, as well as PT100/Thermocouple and weight/pressure measurement. The Vision700 can uses both snap-in I/O modules that plug directly into the back of the Vision700 and regular din rail mounted I/O expansion units. Expansion modules enable local and remote I/O at distances of up to 1000 meters, making the Vision700 a cost-effective solution for applications with up to 1000 I/O points.

Communication options are Ethernet, cellular, and industrial protocols such as MODBUS, DF1 slave, BACnet, J1939, CANopen and more. Each unit comes supplied with an Ethernet port , a USB programming port and an RS232/RS485 port; An additional RS232/RS485 or Profibus communication can be added, as well as CANbus communication. A micro SD card slot for data logging and backup is included as well. In addition, the ‘Protocol’ utility allows the Vision700 to communicate via almost any ASCII protocol. The unit can be directly accessed through a mini-USB programming port, and remotely accessed using GPRS/GSM/CDMA and other IP networks for data acquisition and program download. Another major benefit is the ability to notify supervisors of critical information via e-mail and SMS, enabling real-time remote management.

Display options abound. The machine operator communicates directly with the application via the resistive analog touchscreen—or remotely, via the free Remote Operator utility—which displays data, color trend graphs, and attention-grabbing alarm screens. The flat fascia and IP66/IP65/NEMA4X rating makes the Vision700 an excellent fit for the food and pharmaceutical industries and anywhere spray or wipe down requirements apply.

OEMs and machine builders get all-in-one VisiLogic software for rapid hardware configuration, PLC, and HMI application programming. VisiLogic includes a full library of Drag & Drop function blocks for complex automation control tasks, such as PID, and a rich color library of industrial images.

Unitronics is a pioneer in the manufacturing and design of PLCs with integrated HMI and on-board I/Os – rugged PLC product lines that meet a diverse range of requirements. You program your entire application in a single, intuitive software environment, and benefit from best-of-breed technical support, both provided at no extra cost.

Unitronics designs, manufactures, and markets PLCs. Customers include Coca-Cola, General Motors, Michelin, Tupperware, Intel, Bayer, Colgate-Palmolive, Land Instruments, Mercedes, Agfa, Tyson Foods, Pirelli, Fiat, and Samsonite.
