Oriental Motor AZ Series now with Neugart planetary gears, 42-mm motor model, and new pulse input driver

Oriental Motor now sells an expanded lineup of the AZ Series absolute mechanical encoder stepper-motor product line. New additions include planetary gearheads by Neugart, a new longer 42-mm motor and new pulse input drivers with RS-485 communication. These new releases allow for greater end-user design flexibility and expandability.

Satisfying demanding applications (with higher output torque as well as higher overhung and thrust loads) is a compact and affordable motor-gear combination … the result of a partnership between Oriental Motor and Neugart.

Neugart’s high-torque, high precision planetary gearheads are optimized planetary gear mechanisms with fully hardened gears. Sun and planetary gears are honed to guarantee extremely high torque density, long life, and low backlash. Service life for the planetary gearheads are to 30,000 hours; 5:1, 10:1, 20:1 or 40:1 ratios are offered in the AZ Series.

Complementing the new planetary gearheads is the new and longer 42-mm (size 48) motor, providing torque range between the popular shorter AZM46 42-mm and AZM66 60-mm AZ Series motors.

Two new drivers with pulse input and RS-485 communication now in the AZ Series product lineup let a host PLC directly monitor driver functions while driving the motor through pulse and direction.

The AZ Series mechanical absolute encoder is available as a leading closed loop, battery-free absolute motion setup (sold as a Motor + Driver), or as the engine premounted on linear actuator and rotary actuator packages. These variations allow advanced performance in an array of applications. All AZ Series products come in pulse input or built-in controller (network) types for ac or dc input. A dc-input multi-axis controller-driver with EtherCAT is also available to connect up to four axes with one unit.
