Sensorless drive series from Koford Engineering features high efficiency and performance

March 22, 2021 By Kelsey Zebrowski Leave a Comment

Koford Engineering LLC has introduced a new series of 40 amp 48 volt sensorless drives. These drives feature 99% efficiency, compact size and high performance. Operation up to 80,000 rpm with a 2 pole motor is possible. The design feature operation at 100% duty cycle compared to many other drives that are limited to 95% duty cycle. This provides the maximum possible output from the motor.

The drive offers reliable start up even for loads with higher inertia. Operation at high altitude or in a vacuum is possible. The drive offers a brake function and braking modules are available for applications where the power source cannot accept regenerated power from the load. All units include a drive temperature sensor to prevent overheating. Closed loop speed control is standard. The drive is suitable for standard and also low inductance motors including slotless designs.

The pwm frequency is 37khz. An optional speed pot with knob and leads is available. If it is desired to control the drive using a microprocessor or computer a 0-5vcontrol signal can be supplied. The drive is 3.73″ x 5.06″ x .934″ and weighs 6.5 oz. For more information visit koford.com.
