All-in-one controller with integrated drives for OEM machine builders

January 21, 2021 By Miles Budimir Leave a Comment

ACS Motion Control – part of the Physik Instrumente (PI) Group – has launched the first in a new line of Economical Control Module (ECM) products. The ECMsm is a compact, all-in-one, 2- or 4-axis motion controller with internal drives. Designed for OEMs with cost-sensitive motion control applications, it provides up to 5/10 A per axis with a 12 to 48 Vdc drive supply. controller

The ‘Connect, Command, Control’ ready-to-go usability of this product is intended for OEM machine builders who need flexibility, value and ease of integration. Its industrial packaging and comprehensive software tools minimize integration efforts to reduce time to market. The ECMsm’s unique multi-processor architecture uses powerful control algorithms to achieve best-in-class performance, while its universal servo drive technology enables system designers to easily integrate and control most types of motors and stages, including brush, brushless, voice coil and stepper designs.

“With its compact, all-in-one configuration, the ECMsm is ideal for small footprint equipment in biomedical, semiconductor and other high-tech industries,” said Jason Goerges, ACS Motion Control USA General Manager and Vice President of Global Marketing. “As OEM machine builders expand their lower-cost, lower-footprint offerings, there is a clear requirement for a cost-optimized motion controller and drive platform using the same software language and tools as high-end motion control platforms. The ECMsm and future Economical Control Module products will address that need, complementing our flagship SPiiPlus product platform.”
