New 60-A 24-V digital hall drives from Koford

July 9, 2019 By Miles Budimir Leave a Comment

Koford Engineering LLC has introduced a new series of 60-A 24-V hall sensor drives featuring 99% efficiency, compact size and high performance. Operation up to 100,000 rpm with a two-pole motor is possible. The design also features operation at 100% duty cycle compared to many other drives that are limited to 94% duty cycle, providing the maximum possible output from the motor. The drive operates in four quadrants.

The drive can operate at high altitude or in a vacuum and also offers a brake function and braking modules for applications where the power source cannot accept regenerated power from the load. This provides a more compact alternative to a resistor and relay. All units include a drive temperature sensor to prevent overheating and are available for either closed-loop or open-loop speed control. The drive is suitable for standard and also low inductance motors including slotless designs. The PWM frequency is 37 kHz and an optional speed pot with knob and leads is available. A 0-5 V control signal can be supplied to control the drive using a microprocessor or computer. The drive measures 3.73 x 5.06 x 0.934 in. and weighs 6.5 oz.
