Automation Libraries simplify Lexium MDrive controller integration

December 10, 2019 By Miles Budimir Leave a Comment

Three (3) Automation Libraries are now available to simplify interfacing Lexium MDrive integrated motors with commonly available PACs and PLCs from Siemens, Rockwell, and Schneider Electric. The library add-on instructions (AOI) for motion control are available to download for free here.

AOIs reduce the work of writing software programs to execute move profiles such as:

  • Relative and absolute moves
  • Jogging
  • Homing
  • Read inputs
  • Write outputs

The AOIs are applicable for communications between Ethernet TCP/IP Lexium MDrive products and:

  • Rockwell RSLogix 5000
  • Siemens S7 series
  • Schneider SoMachine and SoMachine Motion

These tools help increase code efficiency and decrease development time. Configuration files (EDS & GSDML) and sample programs also help to streamline initial set-up and programming.

automation

Lexium MDrive products with integrated 1.8° 2-phase stepper motors (rotary and linear), onboard drive electronics, controller and encoder, can reduce machine complexity, size and cost in many motion applications. Products with fully programmable motion controllers may be operated in several modes including closed-loop, torque control, and variable current control for energy savings and reduced heating.
